Cape Porpoise

This is a very active working harbor a few miles east of Kennebunkport. The entrance has a lighthouse on Goat Island. On this morning, lobstermen are heading out to their boat with a load of traps. As the season gets warmer the lobsters will creep closer to shore into shallower water. A good lobsterman won’t know this by consulting an app or even a calendar. He’ll just know when and where to reset his traps, with buoys marked by unique color patterns attached to shorter lines.
