Jane’s Chickens

Ever eaten an egg laid by a hen who’s spent most of her life enjoying a room with a view? Josh and Jane built a house a few decades ago in the shadows of Mt. Ascutney, about a mile up a class 4 road, which is Vermont-speak for a road that’s ignored by town plows and has never seen a square inch of asphalt. They’ve raised chickens here since day 1. Sometimes she lets them into the adjacent garden to feast on bugs but by nightfall they are all safe and sound in their little house.
