Out of the Woods

People often ask where I decide to paint. Often it’s ordinary moments like this morning. We were camped at this spot near Seal Harbor in our VW Westfalia, and as I brewed our tea the scene just spoke to me. Mostly, this is how my inspiration happens — good light illuminates something like this shoreline at low tide and creates a moment and I tell myself “I’d like to try and paint that.”
