Pentecost Harbor
The islands before us, Benner to the right and Allen with the large white building, form part of Pentecost Harbor where in 1605, George Weymouth sailing Archangel, first anchored after crossing the Atlantic from England. The Wyeths owned these islands and lived on Benner during their later years. I created this still life on the foredeck after Andrew died. Our Danforth anchor makes a cross, echoed by a tiny, barely perceptible stone cross erected on Allen Island in the distance, though I believe Andy is buried at the Olsen farm in Cushing in what is called Hawthorne Cemetery.
