Pitcher of Flowers
My wife is a consummate gardener and will leave various containers full of the latest blooms around the house. On this day I was looking for a warm reflected light coming from a single source and found it in an outbuilding in the afternoon. It just so happened to hold a bowl flowers she’d picked the day prior. The background wasn’t terribly interesting so I hung a tablecloth behind them to add some complexity. I painted these flowers slightly larger than their actual size to bring out the complex colored sculpture of the peonies, including the structures of the petals that fell while I was working.
