Rockland Lighthouse and Harbor
This lighthouse sits at the end of a mile long jetty that protects the harbor from the big rollers that come in from the northeast. At one time this was one of Maine’s most active ports, Records show that over 300 boats called this harbor home back in the 1800s, hauling lumber, granite, limestone, fish, etc. throughout the year. Today it’s experiencing something of a resurgence, but nothing approaching its former glory.
