The Sea
22” x 60”
It’s hard to say what the focus of this painting is. Sometimes I like to paint the ambiance. I think what grabbed me was the layers. The dry sand that only sees water at high tide, the hundreds of stones at the tide line (no two exactly the same), the wet sand, the breaking waves and the deeper water that transitions to a deeper blue as the bottom falls away. What lies beyond that in the mist is up to our imagination.
